Adventures in Period-Land

Hooooiiiii, it's been a while, and my mind hasn't been thinking much lately. But today there's this sudden thought "PERIODS."

You know the monthly gift that keeps on giving. Why isn't there a holiday for periods? Maybe a few companies offer leave for periods, but not everywhere. Bruh like Come on, every girl on this entire Earth gets periods, And for me, three days of period holidays wouldn't even be sufficient it feels like weeks. Okay, forget about bleeding.

The "bloating"...oh my god. That bloating makes me look like a 9-month pregnent cockroach. The "pimples" ...it's almost like three stages of period pimples: pre-period pimples, period pimples and post-period pimples. Just think for one pimple to fade away it takes almost a week, and for all three stages during the whole seven days of periods. My stupid skin produces extra pimples like a buy one get one offer . Will my face ever be pimple-free?

Okay, let's forget about pimples. We can manage with foundations . Let's talk about "body aches." Usually my body schedules each ache for every day. Monday is for a headache, Tuesday is for a legache. Those cramps just suck , pain in the lower back, cramps in the upper thighs. You know when you're in class and some faculty suddenly asks you something and then there's a sudden cramp, a sharp poke in the abdomen. It's like, "Faculty bro, what timing you have got." Or sometimes in a crowded elevator. I'll just be doing some kind of belly dance. It's not really a belly dance....try to understand.

And then there's PMS ... you go from "Aww" to "Why is life so unfair?" in seconds. All these aside here comes the main plot ..."sanitary pads." It's been almost 108 months since my periods started, and I still don't understand the mood swings of my pads. One moment they can hold for what feels like forever and the next they can't even hold for an hour. Whenever I think of that menstrual cup, that bell shaped cup that you can insert inside, I shudder at the thought. And that attention position during the nights ...OMG. I have to sleep in a straight position for a whole 8 hours and by the time I wake up, my legs have gone numb. Starting the day with numb legs is quite a challenge. I really feel it's unfair. I'm not saying life is easy for boys, but think about it. For a whole month the pre and post pains consume almost 15 days on average. The other 15 days are supposed to be a rest span. Pains, pimples, backaches, vomit sensations, thigh aches. pregnancy - it's a big task in my point of view. And after delivering a baby, the period phase becomes even more challenging.

Periods are a reminder of the incredible power of the female body. It's a natural process that can be a bit of a hassle but it's also a symbol of strength. So the next time you meet a woman dealing with her period remember she's essentially a superheroine with a red cape.
